Description
Rosemary is a Mediterranean subshrub with needle-like leaves and an intense, resinous aroma, indispensable with potatoes, lamb and roast vegetables. Hardier cultivars such as ‘Arp’ survive cold winters outdoors in wine-growing climates; in harsh locations it overwinters better in a pot.

Plant it in the warmest, fully sunny spot in the garden in free-draining, rather lean soil; waterlogging is its greatest enemy. Water only sparingly and let the soil dry out in between.
